What is Oxjam?
Oxjam is Oxfam’s month long music festival that takes place in towns and cities across the UK every October since 2006. This multi venue music festival is run by volunteers who know and love their local music scene and want to Takeover their towns to bring music into their own communities. Since the first Oxjam in 2006, more than 55,000 musicians have played to over 1.2 million people at around 4,800 Oxjam events nationwide. Oxjam has raised more than £2.3 million in total for Oxfam: enough to feed 328,500 families; buy 92,000 goats or provide safe water for 1,380 schools. This year for the first time ever Oxjam is coming to Aldershot!
With our fantastic history, links to the armed forces, football club and vibrant multi ethnic culture; we are a town with a strong community ethos. Those who have lived in Aldershot tend to have a quirky character and strong sense of pride in their town. Oxjam Aldershot Takeover will bring both the residents and people from other local areas together to celebrate our local music scene. This will give us the opportunity to bring our small and eclectic community together for a good cause whilst having a lot of fun along the way.
So grab your family and friends, buy a wrist band and enjoy a day and night of fantastic live music. You will be supporting a multitude of great local musicians and a great global charity.
