Oxjam Aldershot Takeover – the first one for our town.
Here in Aldershot we are proud and independent yet very down to earth folks. We don’t ask for much. We like what we’ve got and our proud of who we are and have a lot of character. This is why we decided we need a multi venue music festival in our town. This event will ignite our passion for music and help us to celebrate our diverse community by all coming together to celebrate what is really important….fun!
So come along and join us, let’s make some new history for our town. We can celebrate by all coming together, treating our ears to the delights of talented musicians, DJ’s and bands and raising a huge amount of money in the process. This money will go to Oxfam to enable the great work they do to continue. Oxfam work around the world helping others who can only dream of the freedoms we have. Let’s fight poverty together One town together celebrating life, Local music – Global Impact.
Oxjam began in 2006, with the aim of creating a network of music-loving people across the UK, all united by a shared goal – to raise money to fight poverty and suffering around the world. 9 years on we’re still going strong, with hundreds of incredible gigs taking place each October.
The great thing about Oxjam is the diversity of the events on offer – from our multi-venue Takeover events, to sponsored busks on top of mountains – we’ve seen it all. Over the years we’ve gained several high profile celebrity supporters, including Jarvis Cocker, Fatboy Slim, Damon Albarn, Hot Chip, 2manydjs and many more. But at its heart Oxjam is still a grassroots festival, with thousands of volunteers celebrating music in their local communities by organising their own gigs in support of Oxfam GB.
There are loads of ways to get involved with Oxjam and be a part of the UK’s biggest festival line up. You could organise your own event, and we’ll give you all the support and guidance you need to put on a brilliant night. Or why not perform or help out at a local Oxjam gig?
