The Oxjam Ashot Kiddies Fun Day, which took place Saturday 8th August, 2015 at the Ascension Church, Aldershot, was a huge success with good attendance and crucial funds raised. The event was organised by the Oxjam Aldershot Takeover Team, headed up by Kerry Brown to help raise vital funds for Oxfam and the one-day multi-venue wrist banded music event on October 17th.
Many local parents got involved by bringing their Children throughout the four hours and through a variety of fundraising activities, over £150 was raised.
The event was not only organised to raise funds but also to help parents entertain their children during the summer holidays. Activities on the day, entirely run by volunteers, included; face painting, craft activities, a bouncy castle, messy play sessions from Moo Music Farnham and music sessions from Len Tyler Music School and Music with Mummy. There was also a raffle with gifts donated from Franfablous, Shuzu, Rowhill Pre-school and Card Factory.
To help further raise funds, stall owners were invited to take a space at a very low cost. Those in attendance included Pheonix trading, 4 kids and Rowhill Pre-school.
The Oxjam Aldershot fundraisers were also donated with gifts of clothes, toys, board games, dressing clothes and books from Oxfam in Farnham. These were allocated between a lucky dip, a tombola and children’s clothes stall. The dressing up clothes were set up outside for children to take advantage of and dress up.
The next fundraising activity taking place will be taking place on the 28th and 29th of August, 2015 at the Funky End, Aldershot. The Friday will consist of a warm up DJ party from 8pm until 3am Saturday morning. Put together by Passive Aggressive and the Funky End, this will be a night of heavy bass music from House to Garage through to Drum’n’Bass. The Saturday event, beginning at 1pm will consist of a barbecue, face painting and live bands and DJs. This will have a more eclectic range of music with genres including Indie, Rock, Electronic, Pop and Rock covers, Hard Rock, House and Grunge. Acts include; One Click Malice, The Ganchos, Stupid Chief, Deano Acoustic, David Salsbury, DJ Sloanzy, DJ RuffHou5, DJ Klash, Tom Upton and DJ Scadee.
